Can be used in a variety of anti-aging personal care products.
3. Preferred Basis
Effectiveness: Suitable for Chinese skin types
Practicality: No injections, no need to apply or use eye patches.
Economic Outlook: The overseas price of hexapeptides is 1 million yuan per kilogram, while the domestic price ranges from 500,000 to 700,000 yuan per kilogram. When used at a concentration of 10% in anti-wrinkle eye creams, the effect is optimal.
Mechanism of action of hexapeptides
As people age, their skin gradually undergoes aging, the most prominent feature of which is the increase in facial wrinkles. This is a natural law of human survival, though it can also be accelerated by factors in the natural environment. From a physiological perspective, skin aging manifests itself through a reduction in collagen and elastin, as well as an irregular arrangement of skin lipids. Research indicates that to effectively prevent these phenomena, two approaches can be adopted: inhibiting the synthesis of SNARE complexes and suppressing the release of catecholamines.
When muscles receive neurotransmitters, they contract. Neurotransmitters are synthesized in the cell bodies of neurons and stored in synaptic vesicles. Upon receiving external stimuli, a calcium-dependent exocytotic machinery—the SNARE protein complex—causes the synaptic vesicles to release neurotransmitters into the synaptic cleft, where they cross the synaptic gap and bind to corresponding receptors on the postsynaptic membrane, thereby exerting their effects. The SNARE complex is composed of three proteins: VAMP, SYNTAXIN, and SNAP-25.
Acetyl hexapeptide has a structure similar to SNAP-25 and competes with SNAP-25 for the binding site within the SNARE complex, thereby inhibiting SNARE formation. This restricts muscle contraction and ultimately helps prevent the formation of wrinkles.
Moreover, excessive release of catecholamines can also lead to the formation of wrinkles; however, acetyl hexapeptide, synthesized through the rapid production of peptides, can inhibit the release of catecholamines.
Neuropeptides: These substances block the release of chemicals that trigger facial muscle contractions. They are much weaker than botulinum toxin, but their effects are similar—allowing them to weaken the movement of facial muscles, thereby improving and preventing expression lines.
