Mechanism of action

Antagonizing the effects of Ang II: inhibiting the binding of Ang II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and fibrosis.

NO/cGMP pathway: Activates endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), increases nitric oxide (NO) release, and leads to vasodilation.

Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects: Inhibits the NF-κB pathway, reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as TNF-α and IL-6) and reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Anti-proliferative and anti-fibrotic effects: Inhibiting the MAPK and PI3K/Akt pathways to reduce cell proliferation and collagen deposition.

Cardiovascular system 
Vasodilation: Counteracts the vasoconstrictive effects of Ang II via an NO-dependent mechanism and improves endothelial function.

Cardiac protection: inhibits cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and fibrosis, alleviates myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, and reduces infarct size.

Hypotensive effect: Balances the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) and lowers blood pressure (particularly effective for salt-sensitive hypertension).

Diuresis and natriuresis: Increase renal blood flow, promote sodium excretion, and reduce water and sodium retention.

Anti-fibrotic: Inhibits glomerular sclerosis and renal interstitial fibrosis, thereby slowing the progression of chronic kidney disease.

Anti-proteinuria: Protects the glomerular filtration barrier and reduces proteinuria in diabetic nephropathy.
