2. Feature Introduction
Mechanism of action
Telomerase activation: By activating telomerase, telomere length is extended, thereby delaying cellular senescence (supported by in vitro experiments); and regulating the expression of genes associated with aging (such as p53 and SIRT1).
Antioxidant and DNA Repair: Reduces the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and enhances DNA damage repair capacity; upregulates antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase.
Pineal gland function regulation: regulates melatonin secretion and improves circadian rhythm disturbances; may influence the body’s overall aging process via the hypothalamic-pituitary axis.
Physiological and pharmacological effects
Anti-aging and lifespan extension: Animal studies (in mice and fruit flies) have shown that lifespan can be extended by approximately 10–30%, and age-related phenotypes—such as graying fur and reduced mobility—are diminished. Additionally, stem cell aging is delayed, helping to maintain tissue regenerative capacity.
Immune modulation: Enhances immune function in elderly individuals and restores thymic activity.
Neuroprotection: Improves cognitive function in Alzheimer’s disease models and reduces β-amyloid plaque deposition.
Anti-cancer potential: By regulating telomeres, it inhibits the unlimited proliferation of certain cancer cells.
